Effect That Snow Leopards Have on the environment
The Snow Leopard has a positive effect on its ecosystem. It is a very solitary animal, and its claimed territory can be up to 36 square miles. The Snow Leopard is not a very aggressive cat, so it's main role in it's habitat is keeping populations in check by being a predator to Marmots, Wild Sheep, and Goats. Because these creatures reproduce at a relatively fast rate, without the Snow Leopard vegetation would be overeaten, resulting in loss of food supply for insects and many species of birds. That's why it's critical for the Snow Leopard (one of the main predators) to stay a part of the ecosystem. Without it some of the prey's populations would become unstable, and other species would fall to extinction.
The biggest danger that is posed to the Snow Leopard is habitat destruction. Humans are constantly destroying land for resources or for expansion of civilization. There has also been reported pollution in their area, and that is harming the young Snow Leopards. The Snow Leopard is currently listed as an endangered species, and if that's going to change, there needs to be some drastic readjustment on the side of Human interaction.
